  • Master Password issues after upgrading to SmartSVN 8.6.2

I don't know what happened to my previous post, it got corrupted or something, but needless to say, here is my post again regarding issues I am having after upgrading from SmartSVN 8.5 to 8.6.2.

The application keeps asking me to either 1) create a new master password or 2) use my existing master password. What is odd is that I have had a master password set for quite a while now and never had any issues when upgrading between versions of the application. The app did not recognized my existing master password, and if I try to create a new master password via Preferences->Authentication->Change Master Password I get the error:

Password could not be verified. Details: PBEWithMD5andDES SecretKeyFactory not available
I don't care if I have to reset my master password and any stored passwords and start fresh, I just don't know how to resolve this password issue.

I am seeing this same problem after upgrading to 8.6.2 on MacOSX 10.9.5
I have no way to save passwords. I've deleted this file to no avail:
    /Users/derekhed/Library/Preferences/SmartSVN/8.6/passwords

Happy to hear I'm not the only one experiencing this issue. I am running 10.9.5 on my machine as well.

I have the same issue - new install yesterday and cannot get anywhere with the Master Password popup. Hope this doesn't mean I have to move to another tool before even kicking the tires on this one.

          Hi all,

Really sorry to hear about this, not sure if it's been reported yet but if it hasn't I'll do so now. Are you all on OSX, or is it just derekhed and Sly Raskal?

We've got a task raised to address this now after some thorough testing, I'll keep this thread updated with progress.

Hi - I've upgraded from SmartSVN 6 to SVN 8.6 and now the system is unusable as I'm stuck in the No Master password wizard.

Is it possible to get a link to the SmartSVN 8.5 or some older major 8 dmg that works?

                cheers

                  Hi chook,

If you close SmartSVN, delete ~/Library/Preferences/SmartSVN/ and then reopen the program that'll get you out of the password loop. You can then uncheck the 'remember me' option which will get things working again for you, though you'll need to type in the password for each repo when you access rather than the master password. Realise that's not ideal, sorry about that.

We're looking at different options for a solution and will keep you all posted.

Hehe, no remember me works as a charm. I can live this way. Looking forward to the next release.
                    Thanks!
