Hi,

I am in the process of moving ur comany´s repos to a different server, I am using svndamin dump in the original server and then using Ubersvn tools to create the "new" repository. This works fine.

However, I do not want to delete the original repositories until I am 100 % sure there is no information missing, so I figured I would just use the permissions tab for this repository at the old server and delete everyone´s permission to access this repo. This does not seem to work though, I am still able to commit to that repository. I am using "Ubersvn Internally managed" permissions.

Any hints what maybe wrong ?

Regards

José

so far I have only used TortoiseSVN.

What I do is:
SVN Update -> select 'all' and ok
SVN Commit-> select 'all' and ok

Now I want to use svn.exe to create a batch file that commits and updates all my directories under version control.

It seems to me that update is quite easy but I think what I did with Tortoise commit so far also requires an add command? Could you please help me with a batch file? Thank you so much!

I want to be able to load my latest changes of visual studio 2008 into a branch of the latest version of anksvn.

To accomplish this goal, I would like to mention the following;

1. I want to create a 'branch' of the test code I am currently working with. Basically I have a folder structure that looks like the following:program name/version 2.0/version 2.1.

2.The production code is in the directory level program name/version 2.0. I want to put my 'test' code in a directory level program name/version 2.0/version 2.1 that is I hope at the branch level.

3. When I try to use 'Create a branch or tag' that is referenced by the following url:
http://help.collab.net/index.jsp?top...ubversion.html.

I get the message 'path exists The branch/tag at URL 'https://companyname' already exists.

4. When I look at 'Switch to a branch' that is located at:
http://help.collab.net/index.jsp?top...ubversion.html, I see the message,
"Note: If you've made changes to your working copy but have not committed them yet, the changes will get merged when you switch."

I am afraid that my test code will get merged with the production code.

5. I have basically checked out code from the 'production' location in anksvn and have made changes to the code on my desktop. Now I want to be able to check in the new test code into a 'branch' of anksvn.

Thus can you tell me how to solve my problem? If I am not following the 'correct' procedures, can you tell me what I need to change?

This is a clearer description of the problem I described in this thread:...

This is a clearer description of the problem I described in this thread: http://www.svnforum.org/threads/5112...SVN-filesystem. That thread ended up a bit messed up, so I think I'd better restate it here.

I have a website under domain mydomain.com. The site files live in

Code:

X:\Apache2.2\htdocs\abcd\

So visiting

Code:

http://mydomain.com/index.html

would be viewing

Code:

X:\Apache\htdocs\mysite\index.html

I also have a svn server run by Apache (with SSL enabled) under domain svn.mydomain.com. The svn files live in

Code:

X:\SVN\repos\abcd\

Note: abcd is a project in the repository.

The structure of the project folder is:

Code:

X:\SVN\repos\abcd\conf\
X:\SVN\repos\abcd\db\
X:\SVN\repos\abcd\hooks\
X:\SVN\repos\abcd\locks\
X:\SVN\repos\abcd\format (notice this file)

Please note that the project folder shares the same name as the site folder, because it is actually used to version the aforementioned website. When I commit files that don't have property modified, everything is committed successfully. But if somehow the property of a certain file was modified since the last update (I swear I didn't manually modified property of a single file), errors occur. After some investigation. I found that the problem is caused by the file svn uses to record property changes:

Code:

X:\SVN\repos\abcd\format

In my site folder root, there is a .htaccess file. It is configured to deny any visiting requests to my site folder and sub-folders, and redirect them to an error page:

Code:

X:\Apache\htdocs\error.php

But it is such an overkill that it is targeting the project (abcd) in the repository.

As a result, the svn server ended up getting a wrong path when trying to record property changes:

Code:

X:\SVN\repos\error.php\format

You can see that abcd is replaced with error.php by the .htaccess.

You might ask: "Why are you so sure that the problem is caused by .htaccess?". The answer is "Because after I temporarily removed that .htaccess, all files could be committed successfully".

Attached below is the problematic .htaccess.

Code:

AddDefaultCharset utf-8

There are altogether 3 solutions I can come up with:

1. Fix the .htaccess so that it stops targeting

Code:

X:\SVN\repos\abcd\format

But I'm a noob when it comes to Apache configuration.

2. Change the name of the site folder and the DocumentRoot directive in httpd-vhosts.conf

When I try to rename that folder, Windows pops out a warning saying "Access Denied". Please note that the site folder (named abcd) is a working copy of project. I guess svn somehow keeps me from renaming the folder.

3. Change the name of the project in the repository to make the project path look similar to

Code:

X:\SVN\repos\efgh\

I don't know how to do this. And I think this should also involve changing the repository settings for the working copy.

As a result, I need your help for all these three solutions.

P.S. My server has TortoiseSVN installed.

Best regards,

The Repo Browser displays all folders/files correctly. Is there a way to force the working copy to "re-link" to the repository? I understand thats what the Update does...but it isn't working.

How to organize a Subversion repository for Oracle EBS Customizations?

My organization is looking to implement version control (SVN or Git) for our Oracle EBS customizations. I'm seeking advice for how to implement it.

The way we work now is off of a network share, where our code is organized by folders for each deliverable (we have many hundreds of deliverables). A deliverable would be a specific customization or enhancement to the Oracle EBS product (forms, reports, inbound/outbound interfaces, discoverer reports, etc).

Within each deliverable folder we have the code (PL/SQL, Java), or the report or form objects, along with technical specification documents, any required DDL, and some other things.

We do not do builds or releases, and developers generally work on one deliverable at a time, by themselves (we don't normally have multiple developers working on the same deliverable). When a developer finishes their work on the deliverable, it immediately gets migrated to the next instance.

My question is how to organize this in SVN? Should we do one big Repository containing every deliverable, or create many repositories (one per deliverable)? I don't think we would use branching at all (we haven't seen the need in the past 10 years at least), so do we need to create the standard /trunk /branches /tags folders?

I don't know what other questions to ask, but I'm happy to provide more details if needed. I'm hoping someone here has some experience with Oracle EBS + version control.

Thanks!

I am a flash developer so I have a sensitive directory of folders, .fla files, and actionscript 3 files. I would like to upload a while project directory to a repository. However, the drag and drop box brings me to a dead-end page where I don't seem to b able to do anything.

The manual doesn't explain this very much either.

I must be missing something!

Creating a daily repo

Is it possible to create a daily repo without knowing the files you want to increment?

Code:

root

     |-- cust003.txt

Every day I want to check in any changes to *.txt files within the root directory.

The system will hardly ever be used in a traditional check out, check in scenario... just primarily as a tool for admins to come in and see when\what\who changed files on a given day and as a backup in case some data is changed\removed that shouldn't have been.

I had thought about just generating a list of changed files, then checking them in by looping through the records in the list of changed files. But was not sure if this is the most efficient way to do it.
